Can Do Communities have received Big Lottery Awards for All funding to deliver an exciting new Project called ‘Peterborough Community Reporters’.

Peterborough Community Reporters  is an exciting and innovative way for people to build confidence, learn new skills and tell a story about themselves. Everyone has something to say – about where they live, what they’re experiencing, and what they want to see happen. This project gives people a platform to tell these stories online, and in the process develop their confidence and improve both practical and soft skills. On completion of the programme, reporters receive a Community Reporter badge to show they have been through the interactive training.

Through FREE training sessions taking place in different community venues around Peterborough attendees learn how to use all forms of media to produce high quality reports which can be distributed in a variety of ways, including sharing with Twitter, Facebook, Local Community Newsletters & Websites.

A Community Reporter programme can provide volunteer work experience and wider volunteering opportunities. In addition, the programme can support neighbourhood management, improving skills and education, particularly in the area of informal adult education; help to develop a sense of community cohesion; and increase levels of participation by residents in their local area; build confidence levels and soft skills.
